OUR WORK

DEI Embrace Foundation helps to promote and protect good mental health and wellbeing.

We also work with partners and communities to build sustainable, evidence-informed programmes.

Men & Mental Health

Men like everyone else, struggle with emotional and mental health challenges, but are less likely to ask for help. In fact, the number of men with mental health issues who don’t seek help is so high that mental health experts are calling it a type of “silent crisis”. We provide key mental health resources focused on addressing men’s issues and empowering them to lead better lives.

Objective: To create men-only mental health spaces across Uganda; places where they feel more comfortable talking about emotional or mental health challenges and get the support they need and find resources dedicated to men.

Girls 2 Women Empowerment

The mental health of girls and women is deeply woven with their social and economic status as well as, their participation as valued members of society. Mental health is integral to women's overall health, and connected closely with the functioning of their families. Through participation and empowerment, we help them attain good mental health and wellbeing.

Objective: To create women-only mental health spaces across Uganda; places where they feel more comfortable talking about emotional or mental health challenges and get the support they need and find resources dedicated to girls and women.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence victims (men, women and children) face a range of mental health challenges, with considerable human and socio-economic consequences. We provide timely mental health support and practical solutions tailored to these victims.

Objective: To create safe spaces for domestic violence victims across Uganda; places where they feel more comfortable talking about emotional or mental health challenges and get the support they need and find resources dedicated to them.

Skills for All

Anyone at any point in their life can develop a mental, emotional or behavioural crisis. Mental health and wellness are no longer just the responsibility of healthcare professionals but of society as a whole. We provide individuals with foundational skills to support those in need in their communities.

Objective: To provide individuals willing to learn with the foundational skills necessary for them to serve and support the mental health and wellness of members in their respective communities.

Later In Life

People can and do live well later in life. Our work focuses on improving the mental and emotional wellbeing of the elderly – particularly those with such as depression and dementia.

Objective: To create elderly safe spaces within Uganda that offer emotional and mental health support as well as community connections aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation.
